Essential Third Party Costs
As well as the funeral director’s own services, the cost of a funeral also includes certain essential third party costs. These include fees for cremation or burial, doctors’ certificates and fees for the clergy or officiate. These costs are beyond the control of your funeral director but will be paid by them at the time.

Avoid rising funeral costs
Funeral costs are going up every year. You might be surprised to hear that, while the average cost of a funeral in 2004 was £1,920, by 2014 it was £3,609*. That’s an increase of 88% – well above inflation. At this rate, the average cost of a funeral in 2024 could be more than £6,800.
